On Saturday, March 3, 2018; I went home again.
For the first time since 2010, I attended a basketball game in the hallowed cathedral, Gallagher-Iba Arena. It has been too long.
There is something that happens when a person walks into Gallagher. It oozes with history. The same court has been used for over 75 years. Man-to-man defense was designed and perfected in this place. It was built as a bandbox, enlarged in the early 2000s and still has the ability to reign noise down upon the opposing team. The swelling roar of a crowd on a Saturday afternoon is unmatched.
Saturday, Oklahoma State welcomed the No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks to Stillwater. In a game that OSU should not have won, they led start-to-finish. The final of 82-64 may have been closer than the game actually was. This wasn't the best KU team to come to town, but as so many others before them, they fell prey to the ghosts of the building.
It was good to be home.
